Foster Dogs NYC Small Dog Adoption Event

This Saturday I headed to the Dog Nanny NYC to attend an adoption event hosted by Foster Dogs NYC. Three Waggytail Rescue pups were there, including my teeny buddy Casper, Egypt, an energetic and happy little Chihuahua, and Tahoe, a sweet goofy puppy with big soulful eyes and giant squishy feet!

There were many other adorable dogs from other groups too! Unfortunately I was too busy playing and petting to get everyone's names, but hopefully I can come back and fill in their details soon.

Lealana, a very sweet schnauzer mix in the care of Heavenly Angels Animal Rescue (HAAR- Details). She stole my heart!

A bonded pair of mini Dachshunds!

Ginger! A spunky rat terrier mix who loved her belly rubs!

Freckles! A gentle, loving senior Corgi mix in the care of HAAR (details).

Suzy, the smiling rat terrier mix (in the care of Ready For Rescue - details) and Raphael, the striking Chihuahua mix (in the care of Friends with Four Paws - details). Coki and Mya, a bonded pair of senior Chihuahuas who are also being cared for by Ready for Rescue (details)

Kimmie! A gorgeous tri-color Chi mix in the care of Social Tees (details). We had a very quick photo shoot which will hopefully help get her noticed!

I had a blast meeting all these little New Yorkers and I hope they all find their forever homes soon!

2015 New York Pet Fashion Show!

I was lucky enough to be invited to the 2015 New York Pet Fashion Show, a New York fashion week meets pre-Westminster Dog show event that raises funds for rescue organizations and advocates animal adoption. This year the event was supporting the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals.

While there were dogs walking the runway, it was a bit too crowded and LOUD up front so I mostly hung around towards the back looking at the clever costumes people had put together for the 60-70s theme of "Rescue Revolution".

I also got to meet this tiny little sweet thing, Kiwi, who belongs to Holly of Waggytail Rescue...

.. and a couple more of the Waggytail crew and their pups!

Foster Photoshoot: Casper!

Casper is an adorable, slightly more senior Chihuahua mix who is looking for a forever home through Waggytail Rescue in NYC. He is a petite gent, more so than I was expecting, and once he realized I had beef liver treats on hand he was very affectionate ;)

Casper is missing most of his teeth, hence the cute little protruding tongue, but does very well on a wet food diet. He is very mobile, housebroken and puppy pad trained, and gets on very well with his foster mom's polydactyl cat.

Here's hoping he finds a older dog friendly home in the near future!

Foster Photoshoot: Moon!

Moon is a super sweet, approximately 5 year old Chihuahua mix with a snaggle tooth and snuggly personality that just wont quit. I don't think I've ever met a dog with softer ears! We had a quick photoshoot today in the lobby of her foster mom's building since it was far too cold to go outside, but I'm pretty sure I spent at least half of the time just rubbing that super-soft head of hers.

I really can't get over what a difference some natural light and a prime lens can make to a photograph.

Moon is available for adoption through Waggytail Rescue NYC.

The many faces of Chinso

Let me start this by saying that Chinso is a wonderful dog. Seriously. Everyone who meets him uses the same word to describe him - Adorable.

While his cuteness cannot be understated, his smarts are also very attractive ;) He is fully housebroken, knows and responds to his name, sits on command, and waits patiently for his food until we give the OK.

He loves going out for walks, greets his neighborhood doggy friends with enthusiastic tails wags,  and enjoys a good run at the dog park.

Chinso LOVES his people. He is very affectionate, playful, and a complete cuddle bug. I'm pretty sure there have been about five whole minutes since we started fostering him where he hasn't been sitting on my lap or sleeping at my side. He loves enthusiastically and with his whole doggy heart.

Chinso is available for adoption through Waggytail Rescue NYC.
